Scientific Name:
Reef safe: With caution
Care level: Moderate
Temperament: Peaceful
Color: brown with light yellow/gold chain link pattern
Diet: Omnivore
Acclimation: Drip application is extremely important for all star fish due to the fact they don’t like intolerable changes in water chemistry.
Starfish should be housed in an established aquarium with sand, coral rubble, or substrate with lots of live rock. They will “crawl” over the tank searching out detritus, uneaten food, and algae. When they become really large they can be harmful to clams, sponges and anemones if there is not enough adequate food in the tank for them to eat. They should be supplemented dried seaweed, pieces of clam meat, or tablets that you will place under the starfish for them to eat.
