The Red Knobby Starfish is not a reef safe starfish, as adults chocolate chip starfish will eat soft coral, sponges, tubeworms, clams and other starfish making them an unlikely good candidate to add to a reef aquarium. Red Knobby Starfish will search out left over uneaten meaty foods in the aquarium and should be supplemented meaty foods such as clams, squid, and mussels. They do have beautiful coloration that make it a wonderful ornamental starfish to add to a FOWLR tank only.
