Caracanthus maculatus

The spines on the dorsal fins of the Gumdrop Coral Croucher are venomous. When stung it is a similar reaction to a bee sting but a little stronger. Take caution when handling the Gumdrop Coral Croucher. It's appearance is similar to a goby, but it is part of the scorpionfish family. The diet of this fish should consist of bring shrimp, frozen mysis, table shrimp and carnivore frozen food preparations. The Gumdrop Coral Croucher lay their eggs on the underside of SPS and Acropora Coral and caution should be taken when having these corals in the same tank as the fish because the egg laying will call tissue recession on SPS Coral.
