Chocolate Chip Starfish will search out left over uneaten meaty foods in the aquarium and should be supplemented meaty foods such as clams, squid, and mussels. They do have beautiful protrusions all over their body in a chocolate brown color that make it a wonderful ornamental starfish to add to a FOWLR tank only.

Many reef hobbyists will purchase chocolate chip starfish when keeping harlequin shrimp. They will often keep the chocolate chip starfish in their sumps or refugiums where they cannot harm any coral. They will then feed pieces of the starfish to their harlequin shrimps a little bit at a time.
