The Blue Leg Pistol Shrimp is not known to pair with any fish and will become aggressive to other reef inhabitants that go near its burrow or cave. The Blue Leg Pistol Shrimp will create a snapping and clicking sound from an appendage that is located in their claw. When opening and closing this claw water will be ejected and can knock out smaller fish and shrimp. They are reef safe and will not harm other inhabitants unless they are small fish, shrimp and hermit crabs.

The Blue Leg Pistol Shrimp should be fed a healthy diet of frozen foods, shrimp food pellets, bottom feeder tablets, and they may also scavenge food in the aquarium including algae.
