The Black Urchin is an excellent algae controller in aquariums housed with aggressive fish. The Black Urchin needs a good amount of hiding places and room to roam. This urchin is nocturnal and will come out at night to forage for algae and seaweed. Be aware the spines of the black urchin are venomous and it sting is equivalent to a bee sting. The diet may be supplemented with dried seaweed.
